Chapter 3: Dating
Later on that same summer, Matt purchased a house that needed a fair amount of work, and found Janelle to be one of the most willing volunteers to help with the job. Meanwhile, Janelle continued her search for a teaching position, and found Matt to be a great source of support and encouragement throughout the process. Only a few weeks into her new job, Janelle agreed to go out to dinner with Matt at a local restaurant for a DTR (Defining The Relationship) talk. During dinner, they both shared things that they appreciated about each other, and Matt became more convinced of his attraction to her. The idea of dating was brought up, but Janelle wasn't quite comfortable with the "D word" yet. However, in the following days the two hung out more frequently, and not two weeks later their relationship became official.
The next fifteen months were a great time of getting to know each other better and spending time together. Though it is often seen as a taboo topic in the beginning stages of a relationship, Matt and Janelle broached the subject of marriage very early on. They determined to use this time of dating to see if they were called to be married to each other - and to have a good time together, too! A few of the wonderful dates that they've been on are pictured below.
