22 weeks

Lately, we have been making some progress on the baby room.  A few weeks ago, Sandi and Matt painted the room to be the lovely shade of green that you can see in the picture.  It is just so bright and fresh – I love it.  They did an awesome job.  We also bought a rug for a great price at Home Goods (also in the picture).  It’s soft and shaggy and makes the room feel cozy.

Some super nice people in our small group gave us a few things that they no longer need, including a bassinet, jumpy play thing, extra car seat and a neat contraption that turns an infant car seat into a stroller.  I think we are still going to get a new car seat, but it will definitely be nice to have an extra one around for our second car, or grandparents, or whatever.

Last weekend, my mom and I went to a huge consignment sale up in Anoka.  There were mostly baby clothes and toys (which we weren’t really looking for) but we got a couple of really nice things including a changing table/cabinet and a baby carrier.

Last night, we ordered a crib that I have been looking at online for a few months now.  We found it for a super good deal, and during a promotion where it came with a free mattress!  Wa-hoo!  That will definitely make the room seem more “baby-ready.”

Finally, last night I finished the wall hanging that I have been working on for a few weeks/months (on and off).  I still am working on figuring out how to hang it, but it feels good to have all of the pieces put together.  I’ll have to take some pictures and post them.  It’s kinda fun.  I like how it turned out, for the most part.  It’s always fun to make something up from scratch and see it through to completion.

Things are definitely coming together in some areas, but we still have a long ways to go with planning, decisions, and preparing.  Luckily, we still have a few months to go!  Recently, a lot more people have been commenting on how I actually “look” pregnant.  Two ladies actually came up to church yesterday and asked me if we were expecting.  That’s kind of fun.

Not so fun (at least to me) has been having to find a completely new wardrobe.  Clothes shopping has never really been my favorite thing in the world, and let’s just say that the maternity section in most stores is seriously lacking in variety and choices.  It seems like I have been to a million different places (and to be honest, I”m pretty sick of it) but I finally feel like I have enough clothes to wear so that I’m not tempted to wear the same shirt to work two days in one week or something.  Some of my old shirts still fit “around” my belly, but they’re all so short that I don’t even like to wear them much.

Thankfully, I have been feeling pretty good the last few weeks.  I have found the second trimester to be much nicer than the first.  At least I’m not nauseous, but now I’m pretty much hungry all the time!  Ha.  My back/ribs have been giving me some trouble because I sit all day at work.  (I guess I thought it would hurt from standing a lot, but I think it’s because everything inside is more compressed when I sit down or something.)  It’s mostly fine when I’m lying down or standing up, but I find myself squirming and changing positions a lot when I’m sitting anywhere for any length of time.

Our Little One has also been moving around quite a bit.  We saw it on the ultrasound a few weeks ago, but I have been feeling it more recently.  It’s a strange sensation – not as much like “kicking” as I would have thought, and more like “nudging” or something.  I’m sure when the baby is a bit bigger and has less space to move around in there, the movements will be more forceful.  So far, they haven’t been big enough for Matt to feel them, but I’m sure it will be exciting when he can. 🙂

Matt and I are so thankful for the way that the Lord has been watching over us and our Little One so far.  We appreciate your continued prayers as we make our way through the next couple of months.

Minda pointed out that the area on the right that allows you to get emailed when we post something was broken.  I did a little poking and it seems to be working now.  Thanks for the heads-up!  Let me know if anyone else has problems with it.

20 weeks

We’ve made it halfway through!    Only 20 weeks (or so) left… and so much to do.

I can feel the little one moving around these days.  It feels like little flutters (and light jabs every once in a while).  It’s exciting to finally be able to feel signs of a little life inside of me!

Ultrasound

 - by Janelle

We went in for our 20 week ultrasound today.  The docs said everything looks great.  It was fun to see our little one again – this time looking much more human-like than last time!  Baby was moving around like crazy the whole time.

In case you were wondering, this is when we could have found out the gender, but we decided that we’d rather have it be a surprise in September.  So, you don’t have to ask, cuz we don’t know, either!

Here are a few of the photos to enjoy! (We got about 10 of them, but they all looked pretty much the same.)

This picture was taken at a wedding that Matt and I attended.  My camera died that night before we took any pictures, so this had to be taken on our phone camera.
